27 May 2025 – Creation of the International Trial Master File (TMF) Day – 10th June
Creating International TMF Day
The International Trial Master File (TMF) Day is the brainchild of Sarah Hitching, founder of Hedian Records Management. Sarah recognized that the TMF deserved its own celebratory day. A day for education, raising awareness and calling all trial team members to action. A way to raise the priority of TMF filing. The day was launched on 27th May 2025 in a LinkedIn post by Sarah Hitching. The first International TMF Day was celebrated on 10th June 2025 on LinkedIn by Sarah Hitching, Karen Roy and Jamie Toth.
Why 10th June?
The date is inspired by the release date of the first TMF Reference Model in 2010 (10th June). In addition, the date is linked to the first time the term ‘Trial Master File’ was used officially in the guideline International Council for Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice Revision 1 (ICH GCP E6 R1 Step 4). The date publication is 10th June 1996 – the perfect day for International Trial Master File Day!
