This virtual conference focuses on the evolving world of data management, digital archiving, and preservation. The two-day online event took place on 24th–25th June 2026.
Ark Fest featured a diverse audience of experts and thought leaders exploring a wide range of topics central to today’s data landscape. Sessions addressed the challenges of managing rapidly growing data volumes, ensuring compliance and accessibility, and safeguarding valuable documents and records for the long term.
A presenter at last years Ark Fest, Sarah spoke again this year on ‘The Practicalities of Archiving – What Happens When the Retention Period Expires?’
The presentation explored the decision making process when retention periods end, the pitfalls to look out for and practical governance suggestions to manage the retention / destruction decision. A case study helped to highlight the challenges of sponsors archiving ISFs on behalf of the investigator and investigative site.
Sarah also spoke about why managing retention and destruction matters. Most people consider just a few reasons, but these are just the tip of the iceberg.
